Upstate Forums for MCO Technical Assistance Announced by State Agencies

September 22, 2014 by Chris Liu-Beers

OMH, OASAS, and DOH Announce Upstate BH Medicaid Managed Care Kick-Off Forums

9/19/2014; http://omh.ny.gov/omhweb/News/2014/upstate-kickoffs-announce.pdf

The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office of Alcoholism and

Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), and the Department of Health (DOH) are pleased to

announce that three dates have been added to the series of Behavioral Health Medicaid

Managed Care Kick-Off Forums.

To assist behavioral health providers, New York State has contracted for a Managed Care

Technical Assistance Center (MCTAC). NYU’s McSilver Institute in partnership with the

National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University will lead

MCTAC. MCTAC will provide tools and trainings that will assist providers in improving

business and clinical practices, as they transition to Medicaid managed care.

All New York State behavioral health providers serving adults and children are invited to send

administrative, fiscal, and clinical senior executive leadership representatives to attend one of

the Kick-Off Forums to learn more about the upcoming changes in Medicaid managed care.

Additional forums for the rest of the state will be scheduled in the future. Specifically, these

forums will provide:

• An overview of behavioral health Medicaid managed care changes in NYS;

• An introduction to the Medicaid Managed Care Technical Assistance Center;

• A discussion of critical factors for managed care readiness; and

• Information on available resources and upcoming trainings.

Additionally, the forums will provide time for networking with managed care plans (as plan

availability permits).
