Monday, October 20, 3:00 – 4:00 pm Eastern Time
Community inclusion is a measure of the extent to which individuals
with mental health needs are able to “live like everyone else.” Please
join us for a Webinar on The Role of Community Inclusion in Improving
Behavioral Health Care moderated by Mental Health America.
Although community inclusion is greater than the sum of its parts, it
can be broken down into eight domains. For each domain, the question
should be asked: “Is the individual able to live like their
nondisabled peers?” The domains include:
* Housing
* Education
* Employment
* Civic Engagement
* Healthcare
* Recreation
* Relationships
* Spirituality
This Webinar will cover principles community inclusion, the benefits
of community inclusion, and how community inclusion can be used to
improve the provision of behavioral health care. The Webinar is part
of an ongoing collaboration between the Association for Behavioral
Health and Wellness (ABHW), Temple University on Collaborative
Inclusion (TUC), and Mental Health America (MHA) on integrating
principles of community inclusion in communities and in provision of
care.
Speaker: Richard Baron, M.A. is the Co-director of Knowledge
Translation of the NIDRR-funded Temple University Collaborative on
Community Inclusion of Individuals with Psychiatric Disabilities,
which develops and disseminates research into policies, programs, and
practices that promote greater community participation for those with
psychiatric disabilities.
Can’t make it? A recording of the webinar will be available on the MHA
website afterward.
