NYAPRS Releases Call for Presentations

for 2015 Annual Conference

http://www.nyaprs.org/conferences/annual-conference/documents/CallAndApp2015.pdf

NYAPRS is very pleased to welcome proposals for our 33rd Annual Conference, entitled Recovery at the Crossroad: The Choices and Changes Ahead, which will be held September 16-18, 2015 at the Hudson Valley Resort & Conference Center in Kerhonkson, NY.

As you hopefully know, the NYAPRS Annual Conference has become widely regarded as one of the nation’s finest training opportunities and a unique celebration of advances in personal and professional strategies and public policies that advance the recovery, rehabilitation, rights and full community inclusion of people with psychiatric disabilities and/or diagnoses. For over 3 decades, NYAPRS has provided timely information, energizing inspiration and critically valued networking opportunities in a celebratory atmosphere and retreat-like environment nestled within New York’s Catskill Mountains.

This year’s program will include keynote panels featuring founding members of Recovery Now! and one entitled Keeping our Focus on What Really Matters featuring pioneers in the areas of dual recovery, self-directed care, peer support, cultural competence and human rights advocacy. We are also very pleased to feature presentations by Khatera Aslami, an inspiring California based advocate, peer service innovator, consumer and trauma survivor and Onaje Muid, Associate Director of Reality House, a Queens-based residential program for homeless veterans experiencing difficulties with substance abuse.

And once again, our Conference will feature Stand Up for Mental Health! with David Granirer and 6 aspiring NY comedians. Contact Mary at mary@nyaprs.org if you are an interested comic!

Check back in the coming weeks for more details!
