NYAPRS Note: The lead hospitals of Performing Provider Systems in NY’s hospital transformation project have received their final valuations for project goals over a five-year period; and several of them are not satisfied. A new reinvestment into the DSRIP program could mean a lengthy negotiation with the Federal government, but it could also offer advocates another opportunity to emphasize the importance of a sufficient methodology to ensure that “downstream” safety net providers in a lead hospital’s network are adequately reimbursed for their efforts to incentivize community-based care.
CMS, NYS Discussing Possible Billion More for DSRIP
Crain’s Health Pulse excerpt May 20, 2015
“New York state and federal health officials are discussing adding at least another $1 billion over several years to fund DSRIP. The sudden funding is a reaction to major New York City institutions’ making clear to health officials they were shortchanged by the amount of money awarded through DSRIP.
Many hospital systems represented by GNYHA, including the Mount Sinai Health System and Maimonides Medical Center, were especially upset by the award amounts, which were supposed to be made public by May 7. For some, dropping out of DSRIP became a distinct possibility.”
