This webinar is part of our efforts to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by the year 2017. It will present information designed to increase awareness of this issue and to reduce the risk of individuals developing cardiovascular diseases. One important strategy in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases is the implementation of evidence-based hypertension protocols, which have a major impact on the lives of individuals with mental health disorders. Another equally important strategy is the implementation of an integrated care model.
The guest panelists will include:
· Dr. Jurgen Unützer, University of Washington School of Medicine, an internationally recognized psychiatrist and health services researcher, will speak at the webinar. His work focuses on innovative models of care that integrate mental health and general medical services and on the translation of research on evidence-based mental health care into effective clinical and public health practice.
· Ms. Jane Winterling, Vermont WRAP Education Coordinator for the Copeland Center, will also speak at the webinar. She is one of the original group of people responsible for the idea and development of WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), a personalized approach to wellness and recovery rooted in the principle of self-determination.
· Mr. Joe Powell, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA), will also serve as a webinar speaker. APAA is a recovery community organization for people seeking or in recovery, family members, peers with mental health challenges, and members of the community.
· Dr. Anthony Campbell, RPH, D.O, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment in the Division of Pharmacologic Therapies (SAMHSA/CSAT/DPT, is a Clinical Specialty Consultant, oversees the standards and guidelines of pharmacotherapy-based treatment. In addition he is an adjunct professor at both Howard University Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine in Washington DC. The facilitator of the webinar will share information on evidence-based treatment protocols.
