3:15-5:00 PM The Role of Behavioral Health in the Value-Based Payment Environment 

Federal and State policymakers will discuss the movement toward value-based payment and how behavioral health can play a role in this transformation. You will hear a broader vision for the movement to value-based care both nationally and at the State level. Respondents representing statewide associations and a national Managed Care Organization will discuss the value-added of behavioral health, the critical role it can play in helping the whole system in increasing value and achieving the goals of reduced hospitalizations. Panelists will also share how behavioral health providers can partner with FQHCs and hospitals to better prepare for a value-based future and how the behavioral health system will need to adapt to be sustainable in the long-run.

Hear from PPS Leadership about their vision for incorporating behavioral health providers and services into PPS projects. Hear from behavioral health providers who have successfully penetrated the planning process. Learn how behavioral health providers and FQHCs can participate in DSRIP and how community-based providers and hospitals can partner to achieve the goals of payment reform together. In order to achieve the DSRIP milestones and outcomes, PPS will need to leverage the rich network of community behavioral health providers to keep people out of the hospital and achieve savings. It’s more than just behavioral health projects. Every DSRIP project will need to address the needs of individuals with serious behavioral health needs to bend the curve of health outcomes.

Throughout New York State, FQHCs and behavioral health providers are coming together and partnering to provide integrated care – by co-locating, subcontracting, forming IPAs, and through Health Home networks.
