MFP Fellows and others have many federal, Web-based resources on behavioral health disparities in underserved communities available to them. But finding them can take time and effort.
During this Webinar, representatives from two highly regarded and relevant organizations-SAMHSA and the Office of Minority Health’s Think Cultural Health-will present valuable resources that MFP Fellows can use in their research, career development, and ongoing practice.
Participants will learn about SAMHSA’s Public Engagement Platform, which includes a variety of resource applications, communication services, and publications. In addition, they will learn get an overview of SAMHSA.gov, including SAMHSA’s Programs and Campaigns, the Office of Behavioral Health Equity, sources of quantitative data, topic-related content pages, and information about grants.
The Office of Minority Health presentation will discuss the National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards, which provide action steps and strategies for health professionals and organizations to better meet the needs of individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds or communication needs. Next, the presentation will describe Think Cultural Health, a website that houses the National CLAS Standards, an accompanying guidance document, and several e-learning programs about CLAS and other learning opportunities.
