NYAPRS Note: Below is an announcement from our friends at the Center for Practice Innovations for their upcoming student/intern training day which will introduce interns/students from all disciplines to Recovery Based Values and Best Practices as they begin their career
The Center for Practice Innovations at Columbia Psychiatry (CPI), New York State Psychiatric Institute is planning the fourth annual inter-professional day for all students/ interns/ volunteer that (Social Work, Peer Interns, Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, Mental Health Counselors). This student training day is scheduled to take place onMonday, November 7, 2016from9:30 AM – 2:30 PMat New York State Psychiatric Institute.
The overarching goal of the day is to introduce students/interns/volunteers from all disciplines across NYC to the widespread availability of evidence-based practices to improve mental health services and to raise awareness of the transforming behavioral health care landscape. Students will also learn about the many free resources offered by CPI, such as online modules, webinars, learning collaborative, articles, tools, and other practical resources.
This year, wewillfocus on:

Collaborating with peer specialists in behavioral health care
*
Recovery-oriented practice and first episode psychosis
* Reforming health care: Moving towards a recovery-oriented system of care
We hope that this training day will help students gain a broad understanding of best practices and health care transformation, embrace work with consumers and families, and, as such, integrate more easily with the work of your agency and team.
Students are our emerging professional workforce. We are offering to help prepare them to be better practitioners so that they, in turn, can serve your program, our consumers, and families in the best possible ways.
