Join us on November 29 at 1pm ET for a webinar addressing tobacco use and treatment for smokers with mental health diagnoses.  Developed and presented by Dr. Marc Steinberg, clinical psychologist and associate professor of psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Tobacco Use and Treatment for Smokers with Mental Health Diagnoses is a must for providers of mental health, behavioral health, primary care, or homelessness services. Peer supporters and individuals with lived experience will also benefit from the valuable information presented in this live web event.

Mental health providers have the skills to provide support and resources to help individuals living with mental health diagnoses quit smoking,

and this live web event will provide information and tools to promote these efforts.

The Great American Smokout is November 17

On November 17, the American Cancer Society is sponsoring the Great American Smokeout. Keeping up the momentum, SAMHSA’s Program to Achieve Wellness will host this valuable webinar, Tobacco Use and Treatment for Smokers with Mental Health Diagnoses, with Dr. Marc Steinberg on Tuesday, November 29 from 1pm – 2pm ET.

Did you know? The 2014 Surgeon General’s Report, The Health Consequences of Smoking—50 Years of Progress, estimated that cigarette

smoking results in more than 480,000 premature deaths in the United States each year. The Centers for Disease Control found that about 36% of adults with a mental health disorder smoke. In fact, 31% of all cigarettes smoked in the United States are smoked by someone with a mental health disorder.
