NYAPRS Note: Despite recent SAMHSA bashing by a small group of critics, the proposed 2018 budget includes a small increase.
According to Politico, “the full Senate Appropriations Committee today approved $79.4 billion in fiscal 2018 discretionary spending for HHS — a roughly $1.7 billion increase over enacted levels…..
The bill provides CMS with funding and authority to continue administering the ACA and fund the navigator program. It also keeps Title X family planning funding level at $287 million.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration would get a modest increase under the proposal, while funding for a response to the opioid crisis would remain mostly flat.”
