Half-Time Peer Bridgers to Serve in Queens and Suffolk Counties
NYAPRS currently seeks two half-time peer bridgers to work in tandem with a FT counterpart to provide engaging and effective transitional individual and group peer support for individuals who reside in and around 2 OMH state hospitals, Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in the borough of Queens and Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Suffolk county.
Eligible candidates must have lived experience, be adept in forming trust-based relationships that foster hope for positive change and personal empowerment, have personal experience with mental health services, be a state certified Peer Specialist, have their own vehicle and clean driving record, are skilled in completing necessary documentation requirements and have internet/email access.
1 FT New York City Managed Care Bridger
In this initiative, the peer bridger provides peer support services to Medicaid Managed Care members in New York City who experience considerable challenges associated with poverty, isolation, homelessness, criminal justice involvement and frequent relapses and avoidable use of emergency, inpatient and detox services.
Eligible candidates must have lived experience, be adept in forming trust-based relationships that foster hope for positive change and personal empowerment, have personal experience with mental health services, be a state certified Peer Specialist, have their own vehicle and clean driving record, are skilled in completing necessary documentation requirements and have internet/email access.

‘New Choices’ PT Community Outreach Specialists in Central NY, North Country and Hudson Valley
NYAPRS is currently working to educate eligible Medicaid beneficiaries with behavioral health conditions about new changes and choices within the Medicaid Program and has new openings for 3 part time regional Community Outreach Specialist positions in Central NY, the North Country and the Hudson Valley
Community Outreach Specialists engage and educate eligible individuals and groups in the community about newly available choices within the state’s Medicaid program, including Health and Recovery Plans, Health Homes and Home and Community Based Services. They must be able to engage individuals from a variety of backgrounds in a variety of settings, have lived experience of recovery and of NYS mental health and addiction services. Spanish proficiency a plus. Candidates must be able to track and log in documentation regarding their work activities; have a device capable of running MS Outlook, Excel and Word; have a vehicle, clean driving record, and adequate automobile insurance coverage.
These positions require a flexible schedule that may include some evening and weekend work for 15 hours a week at $15.00 per hour.
