On behalf of National Disability Institute, the NYC Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs Office of Financial Empowerment, The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, and Citi Community Development, you are cordially invited to the launch of Empowered Cities – a new multi-year effort to develop a national agenda for municipal strategies that address the issues, needs, and service gaps facing those living with disabilities and their families. The initiative will leverage the role of mayors and their cities as incubators for testing and delivering solutions for expanding financial inclusion.
More than 50 million people live with a disability in the U.S. and 25% of households include a child or an adult with a disability. Addressing the financial vulnerability of people with disabilities and their families – especially for those living on lower incomes, who tend to be the hardest communities to reach and are more likely to be underserved – is a national and local priority.
EmpoweredNYC, the initiative’s first local program, will develop and test new training, tools, financial counseling services, technology, research and other resources to enable people with disabilities and their families in New York City to achieve greater financial security and resiliency.
We look forward to seeing you on the 29th. Click here to RSVP.
This invitation is non-transferable.
