NYAPRS Note: The National Council for Behavioral Health is the nation’s most prominent association and voice of mental health and addiction providers and annual recognized leaders who display excellence in behavioral health care. This year the National Council is so aptly recognizing New York’s own David Woodlock for his 4 decades of visionary leadership in advancing recovery-oriented, integrated, and person-centered care through inpatient, supportive and transitional housing, counseling, rehabilitation, and other support services for adults, veterans, children, and families.
While so many of us have long experienced David’s great leadership, humility and integrity, many don’t know that he is an accomplished author of last year’s acclaimed new book, “Emotional Dimensions of Healthcare,” which links aversive childhood experiences and chronic exposure to violence and poverty to illness and poor healthcare outcomes.
We know firsthand of David’s great impact on our community and healthcare systems as he’s been a longtime advisor and supporter of NYAPRS and a pivotal speaker at so many of our events. Congratulations David!
