Hi all,
I know it’s late but I wanted you all to know that our parity compliance report bill, which passed the Assembly this week 137-1 passed the Senate a few minutes ago 60-0. Thank you all for your support, call-ins etc, etc. Special thanks to our colleagues Karin Carreau and Jamie Papapetros for their tireless work on the bill. When I think that the amendments didn’t get introduced until May 31, I am elated at the result of our unified, group effort in what looked like an improbable cause given the opposition of health insurers, health plans and behavioral health management companies. Congratulations to us all.
Signed, Richard Gallo of NYSPA who is (one of our coalition members) who led the effort to demand that the Senate pass this legislation. Richard organized a number of us (and others) to put out action alerts that would maximize public demand for the passage of this bill.
Thank you all again!
(For those of you who want to see the bill language, it can be found here: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2017/s1156/amendment/c.)
Now that the bill has passed the legislature, we must call on the Governor to sign this bill.
Stay tuned for NYAPRS update on more of this sessions legislative issue.
