The Association for Community Living, a statewide membership organization in New York State, seeks a highly motivated individual for Executive Director who can build on our 40-year foundation of strong representation on behalf of more than 100 non-profit providers of mental health housing and rehabilitation services.
The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for overseeing the administration, finances, events and strategic plan of the organization.
The Executive Director is the organizations’ primary spokesperson to government, constituents, the media and the general public. He/She/They work to establish and maintain relationships with various organizations, including but not limited to the State of New York’s Office of Mental Health, the state legislature, and state oversight entities, utilizing those relationships to help members and to strategically enhance the organizations’ mission – and to track and disseminate statutory, regulatory, and policy changes that might impact members. Well-developed and extraordinary communication, both oral and written, and excellent interpersonal skills are a must. Demonstrated success in generating new revenue streams and improving financial results with active fundraising experience preferred. Solid organizational abilities – including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation – are required along with strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
Bachelor’s degree plus five years’ management experience in community mental health, preferably residential provider issues; or a master’s degree in Human Services, Business, or Public Administration plus one-year management experience in community mental health, preferably residential provider issues, is required. Other degrees and experience will be considered, e.g. law, association leadership and government. Computer competency required. Valid NYS Driver’s License and ability to travel within the state is necessary. Highly competitive salary and benefits are offered.
