Join the 3-for-5 Campaign to Hike Funding for Human Service Nonprofits by 3% for Each of the Next 5 Years!

January 30, 2020 by The Alliance for Rights and Recovery

NYAPRS Note: NYAPRS is a member of a large coalition of advocates for nonprofit human service advocacy groups that has come together to forge a campaign to win a ‘3-for-5’ investment for NYS human service nonprofits amounting to a 3% increase for each of the next 5 years. We are urging NYAPRS members and likeminded community agencies to join the campaign today by sending a note to Sophie Theis at MHANYS at stheis@mhanys.org.

“3-for-5” will be a top priority at NYAPRS’ February 25 Albany Legislative Day:

JOIN THE #3FOR#5 CAMPAIGN TO PROVIDE A THREE PERCENT INCREASE IN FUNDING
FOR THE NOT FOR PROFIT HUMAN SERVICE SECTOR EVERY YEAR FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS!

It is unprecedented for the entire human services sector to speak with the same voice in urging support for #3for#5.   The Statewide agencies that represent Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Addiction Disorders, Child Welfare, Foster Care, Domestic Violence, Homeless Programs, Aging Programs and others have banded together to speak with one voice in support of this campaign.

We are appreciative that the Governor’s Executive Budget included the full commitment to funding the increase in the direct care workforce for individuals in mental health, developmental disabilities and addiction, but the needs of the entire community must be met.  For over a decade, the proposed COLA for the human services sector was not withstood in the budget. Instead of going to much needed services to help keep New Yorkers in need in safe, supportive and autonomous environments, the funding went to the State’s General Fund.

We have reached a crisis level for many services and that is why we need your help.

JOIN US AS A SUPPORTER (it costs nothing and could make a huge difference in being able to provide funding for the entire human services community)

Our strength is our numbers and  your voice.    Imagine everyone in the entire human services sector advocating for #3for#5.  That would be one of the  most powerful campaigns in New York State.  All you have to do to spread the word is to have your agency sign up as a supporter.

Just send a note to Sophie Theis at MHANYS at stheis@mhanys.org  and we will add you to the list of supporters.

We are planning a lot of advocacy and other grassroots event that we will inform you about  as we are moving forward.  Our website will be up in running in the next week.

Thank you for your invaluable support.
