On March 20, 2020, the State of New York received a Major Disaster Declaration FEMA-4480-DR from President Trump for the COVID-19 Incident. The incident started on January 20, 2020, and is ongoing. The declaration authorizes public assistance for Category B Emergency Protective Measures (Category B Emergency Protective measures are those actions which a community undertakes before, during, and following a disaster to save lives, protect public health and safety, and eliminate the immediate threat).
The New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services (DHSES) has begun holding applicant briefings for local government agencies and providers via WebEx.
