NYAPRS Note: Statewide disability rights organizations have worked together to create a sign-on letter (attached) to Governor Cuomo regarding the state’s COVID-19 policies for people with disabilities living in congregate settings, including nursing homes, state prisons, psychiatric hospitals, and group homes. Individuals living in these settings are at an increased risk of contracting and dying from COVID-19, and comprise 25% of related fatalities in New York.
We are requesting that Governor Cuomo prioritize the well-being of these populations by including policies that would ensure adequate PPE to staff in congregate settings, ensuring a safe discharge into the community for those who request it, and making data on state-funded facilities publicly available.

If your organization would like to sign-on as well, please fill out this Google Form by 3pm, Thursday, April 23. If you have questions, please contact NYAIL’s Lindsey Miller at LMiller@ilny.org.
