May 6, 2020 by The Alliance for Rights and Recovery

NYAPRS Note: Don’t miss this tomorrow’s very timely information packed webinar: COVID-19 and Public Benefits: A Look at the Facts featuring a follow up presentation by Ray Cebula III, J.D of Cornell University. Ray gave an information packed presentation several weeks ago that was very well received. Come he

The COVID-19 emergency has created quite a bit of chaos for those relying on public benefits.  Offices are closed, phone lines are clogged and things are NOT business as usual.

Stimulus payments, dependent payments, $600 weekly federal unemployment insurance bumps and the impact on public benefits bring good news, bad news and leaves questions about how each federal agency and the benefits it administers will impact families and individuals who rely on public benefits.

While the federal agency interpretation of the CARES Act seem to be settling down, the agencies have taken different positions and have changed positions almost daily.

Join us as we provide an update on what we know about COVID-19 and the impact it has on people receiving benefits.

Ray Cebula III, J.D,
K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Employment and Disability Institute  ILR School, Cornell University
