From the NYS Office of Mental Health
March is National Nutrition March, a time to focus on the importance of food security as a component of mental and physical health. Unfortunately, many Americans don’t have consistent and equitable access to healthy, safe and affordable foods, including many people living with mental illness. OMH’s Office of Prevention and Health Initiatives is working with local service providers and the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets to help increase healthy food options and engage clients to better understand the importance of proper nutrition.
Please see the attached letter from OMH Commissioner Dr. Ann Sullivan to learn more about our efforts and the importance of food security.
