NYAPRS Note: NYAPRS and close to 50 other state organizations and agencies have been pushing the state to reform audit regulations to make it more fair for providers who are acting in good faith. A bill currently moving through the legislature, A6813 (Paulin) would address current problems with audit regulations while ensuring the integrity of state Medicaid funded programs. While the legislation has passed the Senate, it is currently being held in the Assembly Ways & Means committee. We need your support to get this bill passed and ensure the agencies providing needed community support are not needlessly punished to the point of forcing them to shut down. Attached is a copy of the letter NYAPRS and other groups have signed on to and sent to the legislature’s leadership as well as examples of the harmful impact onerous audits have on providers. See below for how you can support the passage of the bill.
ADVOCACY ALERT!
A bill to reform OMIG audit practices, A6813 (Paulin), is getting pushback in Assembly Ways & Means. This carefully crafted bill retains key elements of last year’s OMIG Reform bill while addressing each point in the Governor’s veto message and adds best practices utilized by states across the country, and the federal government in its oversight role of the Medicare Program.
This legislation has already passed in the Senate.
Assemblywoman Paulin has asked that stakeholders call both Assemblywoman Weinstein and your own Assembly representative to request that they ask the Speaker to advance this important legislation (A6813) out of Ways & Mean and get it passed by the Assembly this week.
Given this legislation impacts all providers who bill Medicaid we wanted to ensure you were aware of this sticking point. If you would like this legislation to advance, we suggest you call the Assembly ASAP.
