NYAPRS Note: The NYS Department of Health and NYS office for the aging has announced two town halls will be held in Buffalo next week. These town halls will give the public an opportunity to give their input on the state’s plans for making New York more age and disability friendly. The first town hall will be September 7th from 11am-1pm at Lincoln Memorial United Methodist Church and the second will be September 8, 2023 from 10am-12pm at Amherst Center for Senior Services. See below for more information including how to register.
On behalf of Governor Kathy Hochul, the NYS Department of Health and the NYS Office for the Aging would like to invite you to New York Master Plan for Aging (MPA) Town Halls on September 7, 2023 and September 8, 2023.
The Town Halls provide the public a chance to give their input and details the efforts that the state—through philanthropic, academic, private, and local partnerships—is taking toward becoming the most age- and disability-friendly state in the nation. The goal of the MPA is advancing transformative and cross-cutting strategies to address issues that all New Yorkers encounter within their lifetimes—and to do so with a sustained focus on ensuring equity in aging and disability.
Governor Hochul signed Executive Order 23 in November 2022, calling for the development of a Master Plan for Aging with the goals of improving the lives of today’s older New Yorkers and people with disabilities and building a better system of care and more inclusive communities for tomorrow. We have built momentum since last November and are inviting the public to join this critical effort.
