The Alliance for Rights and Recovery (formerly NYAPRS) will be hosting a Forum for the New York City Region in Brooklyn on Thursday February 15th in preparation for our upcoming 27th Annual Legislative Day in Albany on March 5th! The Forum will be held from 10:00am-1:00pm at St. Francis College (179 Livingston Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201).
Our Forum topics will include Pushing for a 3.2% Cost-of-Living-Adjustment (COLA) and other Workforce Investment needs, NYC Mental Health Services, Crisis Services, and Alternatives to Hospitalization. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss what is needed in the city with mental health service providers and community leaders. Join this year’s all out push to get the desperately needed 3.2% COLA and other workforce investments to save our services! Participants will get updates on the push for a statewide non-police mental health first responder model from the Daniel’s Law Coalition members as well as the need to expand mental health courts from the Treatment Not Jail Act advocates.
Attendees will also have a chance to hear about The Alliance’s Advocacy goals from Harvey Rosenthal and Luke Sikinyi. Tell us about issues you have seen related to rights and mental health services at the regional level and learn about ways you can join our advocacy effort this year! We will also raffle a full scholarship to The Alliance’s annual conference!
Join us as we work to improve the city’s mental health system and support more people with mental health and substance use challenges! Contact Luke Sikinyi (LukeS@rightsandrecovery.org) for more information. See below for the registration link, agenda, and flyer.
