CIAD is a non-profit, constituent-led advocacy organization of adults living in Adult Care Facilities (ACF) that was established in 1973, to address the sense of disenfranchisement and isolation experienced by adults moving from mental health facilities to congregate living settings with minimal staffing, regulation, or regulatory oversight. The vision of CIAD is one that seeks to protect people’s rights, improve the quality of their lives and living circumstances, and transform institutions into real community settings where people live with dignity, autonomy, and agency. CIAD helps the voiceless find and raise their voices and have a seat at the table of power in their homes and in governmental and regulatory systems.
Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) provides overall leadership in organizational planning, fundraising, lobbying and advocacy, and program implementation. The ED is the voice and face of CIAD with governmental entities, funders and key allies. Setting the tone and direction for staff and program focus, the ED will lead CIAD is its vision and growth. The ED is a voting member and Officer of the Board of Directors, committed to a constituency lead model of organizational success.
Responsibilities include Fundraising; Policy, Lobbying and Advocacy; Governmental and Ally Interface; Programming and Program Development; Administrative Operations; Staff Oversight; Board Collaboration and Communications and Media
Qualifications/Skills include Strong leadership, community organizing, public speaking, writing, and computer skills; experience working with elders, people with psychiatric and physical disabilities; commitment to an empowerment model of governance and staffing and a strong commitment to the organization’s mission, to empowering adult home Resident Councils, individuals and improving conditions in Adult Care Facilities is essential.
Salary & Benefits
Salary range is $92,000-$105,000
Generous benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; mobile phone and laptop computer. PTO buckets 20 days (160 hrs.) vacation, 10 days (80 hrs.) medical, 3 days (24hrs.) personal. 403(b).
Location & Travel: This is a hybrid office and remote work position with frequent travel within New York City and the surrounding areas and occasionally to Albany; Candidate needs to be able to work some nights and weekends.
