CORE advocates for not-for-profit human services to have a pension plan, helping to create a more equitable and sustainable retirement system for all essential workers.
Like police, firemen, and other pension-funded jobs, not-for-profit human services provide life-saving work. Yet they are financially disadvantaged, causing many workforce challenges including non-competitive benefits and difficulty recruiting and retaining employees.
By supporting CORE, you are helping more than 800,000 non-for-profit workers obtain confidence in their work and their future.
Right now, legislation A.6839-A/S.8660 introduced by Assemblymember Aileen Gunther and Senator Nathalia Fernandez, supports the mission of CORE. We need your help to get it passed!

“It is extremely difficult to compete with state organizations and private companies when it comes to benefits packages. The people who sign up for this work are driven, compassionate and committed to our mission. The least we can do is ensure they have a pension.”

“I have been at my agency for 24 years. Our salaries are much lower than government employees. Our cost of living has dramatically increased but state funding has not. After putting my daughter through college, I have no savings. I have no pension. I am 50 and fear for my financial stability when I retire (if I ever can).”
