Alliance Alert: The University of Albany Black, Indigenous, Latinx and People of Color (BILPOC) Faculty Advancement Initiative and The Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities (CEMHD) in collaboration with Partners in Community Development Inc. BIPOC PEEEEEEK will host a one-day symposium that focuses on mental health in communities of color. The event will be held on World Mental Health Day, Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 8:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. in the ETEC building at UAlbany.
Echoing the World Health Organization’s goals of mental health as a basic human right for all people, this symposium aims to raise awareness of mental health issues among BILPOC communities and mobilize efforts in the provision of mental health services. As the title of our symposium suggests, Amplifying Mental Health Wellness through the Lens of Equity: Technology and Human Rights, ourpanelists will highlight their work on mental health wellness, technology, and equity. The symposium will bring together local leaders, regional and national experts, community members and stakeholders for a day of learning and intentional interaction to educate employers and employees on essential aspects of mental health equity, and technology. See below for more information, including registration.
