Alliance Alert: The threats of proposed Medicaid cuts have become one of the most compelling challenge that our mental health, cross-disability and broader community faces today!

The Alliance is very pleased to bring together 4 of the nation’s most prominent  advocates for community services, human rights, peer support and federal mental health policy to identify bold responses to this and some of the other key challenges of our time at our Annual Executive Seminar, to be held April 24-25 at the Albany Marriott Hotel, featuring:

  • Chuck Ingoglia, National Council for Mental Wellbeing
  • Jennifer Mathis, Deputy Director, the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law and former Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the U.S. Justice Department
  • Caren Howard, Senior Director, Policy and Advocacy at Mental Health America
  • Paolo del Vecchio, former Director of the Office of Recovery at SAMHSA

The panel will be followed by a reaction panel of NYS and NYC based policymakers and advocates, featuring:

  • Moira Tashjian, Executive Deputy Commissioner, NYS Office of Mental Health
  • Dr. H. Jean Wright, Executive Deputy Commissioner, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
  • Jihoon Kim, CEO, InUnity Alliance
  • Lara Kassel, Coalition Coordinator, Medicaid Matters New York and
  • Ruth Lowenkron, Director, Disability Justice, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, NY Lawyers for the Public Interest

Our program also features a Thursday late afternoon award ceremony honoring the extraordinary efforts of Emil Slane, former Chief Fiscal Officer, NYS Office of Mental Health and Patrick Wildes, former Assistant Secretary for Human Services and Mental Hygiene

We’ll be sharing more details in the coming days.
