For years, our employment programs have focused on helping individuals with psychiatric disabilities secure and sustain meaningful work. Traditionally, this has meant finding employment with a community-based employer. However, research now indicates that self-employment can also be a viable and effective option for these individuals. Despite this, many programs lack the necessary knowledge and resources to support individuals in exploring this path.
This month’s webinar training, Exploring Non-Traditional Employment Options, highlights alternative employment opportunities, including self-employment, apprenticeships, and gig-economy work. This approach empowers individuals to pursue diverse career paths, while equipping programs with the tools to support their success. In today’s evolving job market, creating your own employment path has never been more accessible.
