We ask you to continue calling the Governor’s office using the script outlined below. There will also be a rally this Saturday (tomorrow) outside of Sing Sing, with buses for folks coming from New York City. Finally, there will be another rally this coming Tuesday (March 11) at 12pm at 125 Worth Street, New York, NY ahead of the Board of Correction Meeting. Use the following information to amplify the group’s statement, call the Governor’s office to demand that the state reverse the suspension of HALT and reject any proposals to weaken the law, and attend upcoming rallies.
EMERGENCY CALL-IN: Make Calls to Gov Hochul Today
Please use the below script to call Governor Hochul to demand that as people continue to die because of officer’s abdication of their basic duties, she needs to be releasing people, not providing pay raises, amnesty, and greater power to torture people.
CALL: 518-474-8390
Hello, I’m calling to urge Governor Hochul to reject any deal that even contemplates weakening the HALT Solitary Law or grants amnesty to the prison officers who abandoned their posts in the wake of the lynching of Robert Brooks and Messiah Nantwi, leaving many people to die and thousands of others to suffer. Instead, as people continue to die, I urge you to use your clemency powers to urgently release people, especially elderly people and medically vulnerable people.
Rally this Saturday outside Sing Sing
For anyone in the area, please join the rally around 10:30 am. For anyone coming from NYC, there are buses leaving at 8:30 am at 921 Fulton St., Brooklyn.
