Alliance for Rights and Recovery Now Hiring Peer Bridgers (Full-Time & Part-Time)

Division: Peer Services
Status: Non-Exempt | $20.00/hour
Locations: Rockland • Creedmoor


Be the Bridge to Recovery. Make a Difference Every Day.
The Alliance for Rights and Recovery is seeking dedicated individuals with lived experience in mental health recovery to join our team as Peer Bridgers. This is a unique opportunity to engage and support individuals transitioning from NYS OMH Psychiatric Centers to meaningful lives in the community.

As a Peer Bridger, you’ll build trust, foster hope, and model the power of recovery. You’ll also champion the Peer Bridger Model to ensure high-quality, person-centered support for those we serve.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals through flexible, person-first engagement and recovery-oriented practices
  • Facilitate peer support groups per week in hospital or community settings
  • Provide post-discharge support including linkage to employment, education, housing, and wellness opportunities
  • Maintain fidelity to the Peer Bridger Model and document all activities accurately
  • Collaborate closely with OMH hospital staff and internal supervisors
  • Participating in training and help educate others about peer support and recovery

Qualifications:

  • NYS Peer Specialist Certification (or obtained within 3 months of hire)
  • Personal lived experience with the mental health or substance use system
  • Understanding of New York’s public mental health system and recovery movement
  • Strong communication and documentation skills (Microsoft Office proficiency required)
  • Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance
  • Must reside in the county of the service location
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as needed
