ACTION ALERT: Tell Congress to Protect Voting Rights for People with Disabilities!

March 20, 2026 by The Alliance for Rights and Recovery

Tell Congress to Protect Voting Rights for People with Disabilities!

Voting is a fundamental human right, and people with disabilities deserve equal and full access to participate in our democracy. Accordingly, access to voting is a disability rights issue!

The Alliance for Rights and Recovery is calling on advocates, community members, and partners to contact their representatives in Congress and urge them to oppose the SAVE America Act.

Too many voters with disabilities already face barriers when trying to register and vote, including inaccessible polling places, lack of transportation, and restrictive ID requirements.

Many individuals do not have access to current identification like a driver’s license or passport, and obtaining these documents can require time, money, and support that are not always available. Others rely on mail-in voting or assistance from trusted individuals to cast their ballots, options that could be further limited by proposals like the SAVE America Act.

While these changes may appear minor on paper, in practice they would create real and harmful obstacles that could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, including people with disabilities, older adults, and low-income communities.

At a time when we should be expanding access and supporting civic participation, Congress must ensure that voting laws are protecting and strengthening access, not restricting it!

ACT NOW!

Contact your U.S. House and Senate representatives and urge them to oppose the SAVE America Act and protect the right of all people to vote.
