Take the Stage at Our Annual Conference: A Unique Opportunity to Discover Your Inner Comedian!

August 13, 2026 by The Alliance for Rights and Recovery

Join the Alliance’s Comedy Hour at the Annual Conference!

Have you ever thought about trying stand-up comedy? This year’s Alliance for Rights and Recovery 44th Annual Conference offers a fun and supportive opportunity to do just that!

We’re excited to once again welcome David Granirer, an internationally recognized stand-up comedian, mental health counselor, and founder of Stand Up for Mental Health, a groundbreaking program that has helped hundreds of people with mental health challenges use comedy to reduce stigma, build confidence, and share their stories in empowering ways. David has performed around the world, delivered a TEDx talk, and has been featured by major media outlets for demonstrating how humor can be a powerful tool for recovery, resilience, and connection.

As part of our evening entertainment, we have several open performance slots for conference attendees who would like to develop and perform a short comedy set. David will personally work with participants to help craft, polish, and refine their material, providing coaching and encouragement every step of the way. Whether you’ve always wanted to try stand-up or simply want to challenge yourself in a supportive environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to discover a new talent, build confidence, and become an active part of this year’s conference.

If you’re interested in participating or would like to learn more, please reach out to Len Statham at lens@rightsandrecovery.org. We encourage anyone who has ever considered giving comedy a try to take advantage of this one-of-a-kind experience. We can’t wait to see what you’ll bring to the stage!
