Artificial intelligence is becoming a growing part of health and behavioral health systems, raising important questions about how these technologies can be used without losing the lived experience, relationships, trust, and human connection at the heart of peer support.
On Wednesday, September 30 at 12:00 p.m. ET, the 13th Think Bigger Do Good Webinar, “Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Peer Support,” will explore how AI can be used to strengthen, not replace, peer support specialists and the essential role they play in recovery-oriented services.
Authors Margaret Swarbrick, Ph.D., and Nev Jones, Ph.D. will discuss their framework for responsibly integrating AI into peer support, including critical questions around ethics, privacy, transparency, accountability, costs, and protecting the integrity of peer practice. Chuck Colston of the Tower Foundation will moderate the conversation.
The Alliance encourages peer supporters, providers, advocates, people with lived experience, and others across our community to join this timely discussion. As new technologies enter our service systems, people with lived experience and the peer workforce must have a meaningful voice in determining how they are developed and used, and ensuring technology supports rather than replaces human relationships, choice, and recovery.
