2027 Alliance Leadership Institute
Developing Recovery-Oriented Leaders
for Today’s Behavioral Health System
The Alliance Leadership Institute is a six-month leadership development experience designed to help behavioral health leaders strengthen their leadership capacity, build high-performing teams, improve organizational outcomes, and advance recovery-oriented systems of care. Through interactive learning, reflection, and practical application, participants will develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead meaningful change within their organizations and communities.
Each session concludes with an optional Leadership Challenge, providing participants an opportunity to immediately apply what they’ve learned and bring their experiences back to the next session.
Optional Leadership Coaching
Participants seeking to deepen their learning can enroll in individual leadership coaching—ten one-on-one sessions with an experienced a leadership coach for $1,500.
This personalized coaching experience provides targeted support in:
- Translating leadership concepts into practice
- Strengthening communication and decision-making
- Enhancing supervisory and organizational effectiveness

Lead with Purpose: Know Yourself as a Leader

In this opening session, participants will explore their personal leadership style, core values, emotional intelligence, and the habits that shape how they lead others. Participants will reflect on their strengths, identify opportunities for growth, and develop strategies for building resilience while navigating the demands of behavioral health leadership. By strengthening self-awareness, leaders establish a solid foundation for leading with authenticity, confidence, and purpose.

Lead With People: Build Great Teams

Participants will learn practical strategies for fostering psychological safety, navigating difficult conversations, resolving conflict, and supporting recovery-oriented workplace cultures where people can thrive.

Lead with Data: Improve Results

Lead with Vision: This Strategically

Leadership requires balancing today’s operational demands with tomorrow’s opportunities. This session introduces participants to strategic thinking, organizational planning, financial stewardship, innovation, and the responsible use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Participants will learn how to align daily decisions with long-term organizational goals while preparing their organizations for an evolving behavioral health landscape.

Lead with Influence: Transform Systems

Today’s leaders must influence beyond their own organizations. This session explores how collaboration, advocacy, partnerships, and systems thinking can improve access, strengthen communities, and advance recovery-oriented systems of care. Participants will examine how effective leaders build relationships, influence decision-makers, and create meaningful change without relying solely on positional authority.

Lead with Legacy: Develop the Leaders Who Follow
