NYAPRS Note: Please note this exciting opportunity to expand or create new innovative Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics!
We strongly urge current and would be CCBHCs to reach out to local peer-run agencies to incorporate their expertise in achieving high rates of engagement and outcomes, and in ways that will make their proposals stronger, better and more competitive.
Note that SAMHSA recognizes that “the certified community behavioral health clinic (CCBHC) criteria require that CCBHCs provide a range of services, either directly or by establishing a formal relationship with other providers. These other providers are known as designated collaborating organizations (DCOs).” See more at https://www.samhsa.gov/section-223/care-coordination/designated-collaborating-organization.
Last year, NYAPRS and the National Council collaborated to produce the attached brief that emphasizes that “peer- and family-delivered services are key to the success of the CCBHC” and affirmed that our organizations “highly recommend that CCBHCs establish a committed relationship with a peer-run/recovery community organization during all phases of implementation, including the DCO model as a best practice.”
See more in the brief, as well as very helpful Organizational Self-Assessment (OSA) resource that has been created by the National Council to help engage CCBHCs in a “self-reflective process to enhance partnerships to integrate peer-delivered services in CCBHCs.” Write us at harveyr@nyaprs.org for more information or assistance.
Dear National Council Members:
SAMHSA announced that applications for FY21 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) grants now being accepted. The grants are available to community treatment providers in every state. Qualified applicants must be a CCBHC or be able to meet the requirements of a CCBHC within four months of receiving a grant. Applicants must be either a nonprofit or local government behavioral health authority.
CCBHC Expansion grant recipients that received funding under CCBHCs Expansion FOA (SM-20-012, with funding announcements made in 2020) are not eligible to apply for funding under this FOA.
The National Council will host a Q&A session on Tuesday, January 19, 3:30-4:30 p.m. ET to share information about the CCBHC model and the funding opportunity announcement. Click here to register. In advance of that meeting, here are a few items we want to share:
-
$150 million in grant funding is available, which will fund an anticipated 74 organizations.
-
The amount of the grants will be $2 million per year for 2 years.
-
Applications are due March 1.
We encourage interested organizations to apply for this opportunity. More information about the CCBHC model is available on our CCBHC Success Center website. Please feel free to reach out to CCBHC@TheNationalCouncil.org with any questions.
