NYAPRS’ Note: We are very pleased to share the attached opportunities haring an opportunity for peer providers and mental health clinicians to participate in focus groups as part of a research study by the Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence, New York State Psychiatric Institute, Columbia University. The study is preparing to pilot a peer-led financial wellness program for people who are experiencing financial hardship and recent thoughts of suicide. The research team is looking for input from peer providers and mental health clinicians to develop a feasible, acceptable, culturally responsive, and effective program. Are you a peer provider or mental health clinician interested in sharing your experiences
with a research team?
WHY: Our team at New York State Psychiatric Institute is developing a new peer support program for people experiencing financial difficulties and recent thoughts of ending their lives. This program seeks to help people improve their financial situation and feel more hopeful about their future.
WHO: We would like to get input from peer providers and mental health clinicians to help us develop an effective program. We are looking for:
PEER PROVIDERS: Peer providers aged 18-64 who are certified in their state OR have 5+ years of experience as peer providers.
MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIANS: Mental health clinicians (e.g., social workers, mental health counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists) aged 18-64 who work with individuals at risk of suicide.
WHAT: If you are interested in offering your input, we would like to invite you to participate in a 90-min focus group via HIPAA-compliant Zoom. Peer providers and mental health clinicians will attend separate focus groups. We will ask your opinion about the types of supports that could be most helpful. We would also like your feedback on our program activities and resources.
