Personal Medicine
Trainers: Dr. Patricia Deegan
Tuesday, June 8 (12:30-1:30pm)
Funded by: NYSHF
Dr. Patricia Deegan is an internationally renowned speaker, activist, clinical psychologist, and person in recovery. She will soon be featured in Oprah and Prince Harry’s docuseries on mental health, “The Me You Can’t See.” She also has coined the term “Personal Medicine,” which she defines as “an activity that a person does to obtain wellness, rather than something a person takes (e.g., medication) for wellness.” We can grow our Personal Medicine over time. In this interactive workshop, Dr. Deegan will discuss several common challenges that are faced by the mental health workforce, and how to use self-care (and Personal Medicine) to overcome these challenges.

This is part one of a two-part workshop that will provide an overview of how the principles of trauma-informed care can be utilized for a thoughtful and intentional approach to re-emerging. Topics covered in part one will include concrete action steps that ensure COVID-specific considerations are impacting organizational decision-making.
