NYAPRS is proud to announce that, building on her longtime expertise and her experience as NYAPRS’ Director of Training & Development, Ruth Colón-Wagner has been offered and accepted the opportunity to serve as the new Executive Director of VCS, Inc. VCS is a provider agency located in Rockland County, New York that provides mental health services with an anti-racist, social justice mission that identifies and fills gaps in services with programs in behavioral healthcare, training, and advocacy for those most in need.
While we are saddened to lose Ruth, we are very pleased that she will be afforded this opportunity to head up this esteemed agency and carry out its great mission. NYAPRS has developed a smooth transition plan of Ruth’s former duties to our team and a successor and are in the process of sharing these arrangements with our colleagues and contractors.
We are so pleased that our broader community and colleagues can look forward to continuing a close collaborative relationship with Ruth and VCS in the years to come.
Our NYAPRS team is deeply grateful to Ruth for the years of high-quality work and leadership and for her great kindness, compassion and commitment to promoting health, wellness, recovery, rehabilitation and person directed services.

Hello! I am reaching out to the NYAPRS community to share with you some exciting news. I will have the honor and privilege of serving as the new Executive Director of VCS, Inc, a provider agency located in Rockland County, New York that provides mental health services with an anti-racist, social justice mission that identifies and fills gaps in services with programs in behavioral healthcare, training, and advocacy for those most in need.
As I embark on this new and exciting chapter in my career, I cannot move on without acknowledging NYAPRS who, 8 years ago, trusted me with amazing projects where I’ve been honored to support state and national system transformation Through this work, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with many of you to support providers in the quality of their service delivery in order so that the people they support can advance their wellness, recovery and the quality of their lives.
While I’m leaving, I’m staying connected to NYAPRS as I will remain on their Cultural Competency Committee, and I will collaborate with the NYAPRS Training Collective to bring trainings to VCS as well as participate in other activities. I encourage all of you to connect with me on LinkedIn or contact me via the VCS website in a few weeks as I would love to stay connected with you.
All my best,
Ruth
