Feb 10! Daniel’s Law, Peer Alternatives to Forced Treatment Discussion at NYAPRS Finger Lakes Forum This Thursday!

NYAPRS Note: In preparation for NYAPRS’ February 28th Annual Legislative Day in Albany, NYAPRS will be hosting a Finger Lakes grassroots regional forum at Artisan Works in Rochester on February 10th from 10am to 1pm. The program will include:

  • County Mental Health Director Dr. April Aycock, INSET Alternative to AOT director Ruthanne Becker of the MHA of Westchester and Harvey Rosenthal will explore innovative engagement services, most notable the INSET program that is included in the this year’s state budget

  • Daniel’s Law mental health alternative to police first responders. We are hoping that Senate bill sponsor Samra Brouk will be able to head up a panel with Stanely Martin and NYAPRS’ Policy Director Luke Sikinyi.

NYAPRS Finger Lakes Regional Forum 2.10.23 Agenda 

·         10:00am to 10:45am: Welcoming comments/Alternatives to Forced Treatment/Lobby Day – Harvey and Luke

·         10:45am to 12:00pm: In depth information on topics:

o    10:45 -11:00: Daniel’s Law – Senator Brouk (invited)

o    11:00 – 11:15: Daniel’s Law/Non-Police crisis response – Stanley Martin

o    11:15 – 11:30: AOT Program – Dr. Aycock

o    11:30 – 11:45: INSET: Alternative to AOT – Ruthanne Becker (Virtual)

o    11:45 – 12:00: Next Steps

·         12-1: Lunch/DJ
