NYAPRS ALERT: We have moved our Legislative Day to Monday, March 13th! The Legislature recently announced around $800 million will be added to the Governor’s proposed budget. This is a critical time to meet with the legislature to make sure some of these funds go towards alternatives to hospitalization and the behavioral health workforce! We need everyone to get on the bus to Albany to fight for the 8.5% COLA increase or we risk losing more of our workforce!
This Year’s NYS Advocacy is Critical!
Get on the Bus to Albany to Raise Your Voices for the COLA, Human Rights,
Housing and Criminal Justice Reform!
NYAPRS’ 26th Annual Legislative Day!
The Egg Empire State Plaza
MARCH 13, 2023
Your advocacy this year comes at a very critical time!
With limited additional funding, it’s imperative that we build on the Governor’s proposals and seek a major aid package for our battered agencies and our dedicated workforce. At the same time, our community members are facing a rise in the use of coercive involuntary inpatient commitments and outpatient treatment orders (Kendra’s Law) and need more alternatives to hospitalization and coercive treatment.
Join NYAPRS members and friends from across New York State to come to Albany to advocate for this year’s priorities, including
-
an 8.5% Cost of Living Adjustment, $500 million investment and housing increases for community mental health services
-
increased funding for housing first, peer support, crisis diversion and mental health first responder initiatives
-
rejection of coercive legislative and budget proposals
-
passage of Daniel’s Law, Treatment not Jails, Clean Slate criminal justice reform legislation
Our Annual Legislative day will once more feature presentations from advocates and prominent state officials, a roleplay of a typical legislative meeting, a rally, news conference and a round of meetings with state legislators. Breakfast and lunch will be provided as well.
